Hotline

Connect your calendars

Connecting a calendar lets Hotline keep the times you propose conflict-free and put every booked meeting where you actually live. It's a one-time step — about two minutes per calendar. Hotline reads free/busy and writes the meetings you book; nothing else. The steps below refer to the connect screen in your Hotline profile, and during the beta we set the first one up with you.

Google Calendar

  1. In the connect screen, choose Google Calendar.
  2. Pick the Google account you want and review the requested access.
  3. Click Allow. Done — Google handles the rest, no passwords shared.

You can disconnect anytime from your Hotline profile or from your Google account's connections page.

Outlook / Microsoft 365

A one-click Microsoft sign-in is on the way. Until it lands, Outlook connects through its published calendar feed — Hotline sees your busy times, and booked meetings arrive as calendar invites you accept in Outlook as usual.

  1. In Outlook on the web, open Settings → Calendar → Shared calendars.
  2. Under Publish a calendar, pick the calendar, choose Can view when I'm busy, and select Publish.
  3. Copy the ICS link — not the HTML one.
  4. In the connect screen, choose Calendar feed and paste it in.

Publishing can be disabled by your IT administrator on some work accounts. If the option isn't there, tell us and we'll sort it out with you. Stop the connection anytime by unpublishing in Outlook or removing the feed in your Hotline profile.

Apple iCloud

Apple doesn't offer a "Sign in with Apple" flow for calendars, so iCloud uses an app-specific password — a separate password you create just for Hotline and can revoke anytime. Your real Apple password is never shared.

  1. Go to account.apple.com and sign in (two-factor authentication must be on — it already is for most accounts).
  2. Under Sign-In and Security, open App-Specific Passwords.
  3. Click +, name it Hotline, and copy the generated password.
  4. Back in the connect screen, choose Apple Calendar and enter your Apple ID email plus that password.

To revoke access later, delete the password from the same App-Specific Passwords page — the connection stops immediately.

Proton Calendar

Proton doesn't offer calendar sync to outside apps yet, so Hotline supports a read-only overlay: your Proton events show up as busy blocks when you pick times.

  1. In Proton Calendar, open your calendar's settings and choose Share via link.
  2. Copy the secret link, then paste it into Calendar feed in the connect screen.

Advisory only — Hotline can see when you're busy but can't write meetings to Proton. Booked meetings still arrive by calendar invite.

Any other calendar

If your calendar can publish a subscription link — Fastmail, Zoho, Nextcloud, a shared team calendar, almost anything — Hotline can read it. Look for “publish,” “share via link,” or “subscribe” in its settings, and paste the resulting .ics address into Calendar feed.

Feeds are read-only by nature: they contribute busy times so Hotline never proposes a slot you're not free for, and booked meetings arrive as calendar invites.

Wondering what happens with this data? The whole story is on the privacy page — the short version: free/busy checks and the meetings you book, nothing more, and no one you invite ever sees your calendar.
